At the Center for Racial Justice in Education, we At the Center for Racial Justice in Education, we are committed to a world in which all people are afforded their full humanity. On this #TransDayOfVisibility, we stand in solidarity and lift up the fact that transgender rights are human rights.

Please visit our stories and @glsen for resources on how to support a safe and inclusive K-12 school environment for LGBTQ+ youth.

Each year, my former colleague @sobiashk_03 posts these for educators who wish to know how to support students (and colleagues) during #Ramadan. She was gracious enough to email me these slides and share them with you.

Friends and Colleagues, Ramadan is a month away. Please consider passing this on to your colleagues and/or administrators.

At the Center for Racial Justice in Education, we At the Center for Racial Justice in Education, we are committed to a world in which all people are afforded their full humanity. Women and girls of color continue to be particularly impacted by educational inequity, from being underrepresented in STEM fields to being deprived access to education due to their gender.

We strongly believe that every educator has the power and potential to create just and equitable learning environments where every child’s full humanity—including their racial and gender identity—is celebrated, respected and seen. For #WomensHistoryMonth, we honor the contributions of women educators who have fought and advocated for a better world for the children under their care and we affirm that every child—across race and gender—should feel valued, respected and safe.

On #InternationalWomensDay, we invite you to join us in celebrating and uplifting Black women authors and thinkers whose ideas are vital to our understanding of the world.

As their work is under attack by right-wing demagogues, now is the time to unite in defense of their scholarship and behind the freedom of knowledge itself. These women are thought leaders, and what they illuminate with their work are the truths of our society and the paths of deep understanding that must be traveled to arrive at change. They cannot and should not be erased by bad-faith political actors or institutions like @collegeboard, whose capitulation to politicians weakens access to critical ideas through public education and the very foundations of our democracy.

If you care about defending the work of these women, of anti-racism, intersectionality and Black feminism, please consider signing our coalition’s Open Letter to @collegeboard and joining the movement to defend Black voices, Black citizenship and Black lives.

Black History IS American History ✊🏿✊🏽✊🏼✊🏾💖 As we learn and reflect together, we can better understand and find ways to combat racism and prejudice 👐🏾🌎 We believe that history should be taught accurately, and in its entirety. Black Americans have been instrumental in shaping history, art, culture, technology, and activism in America and around the world. We take this moment to recognize and honor the contributions by these influential figures and so many more. (Check our Stories for resource links)

In partnership with The Conscious Kid, we have provided some resources to help everyone learn more about Black History:

Standing in solidarity!!! Standing in solidarity!!!
We believe that the histories, stories, and voices We believe that the histories, stories, and voices of Black people should be centered, honored, and uplifted in school curricula every day.

As we enter February, the Center for Racial Justice in Education is providing resources to be used beyond the scope of this one month. Unless Black history is taught throughout the year, it perpetuates an “othering” of Black Lives and Black students, and is also a manifestation of anti-blackness. Ensuring the ongoing integration of Black history and experiences throughout all curriculum is imperative as educators continue to uplift every student and reinforce that #BlackLivesMatter everyday.
