Dr. Nelly Kaakaty is an educator, writer, and researcher interested in authentic narratives and representations of marginalized groups. Her current work is twofold: she is a learning specialist, building an academic support program for middle school students with learning differences, and she is a professor, teaching courses in psychology and special education at the graduate and undergraduate level. Whether she is with 12-year-olds or 22-year-olds, Dr. Kaakaty encourages students to expand their thinking beyond themselves, seek to understand others, and value the world around them.
