Hannah Lucal joined Border Crossers in 2015 and has since worn many hats in the organization, supporting with administrative work, event planning, fundraising, training, and research for the Racial Justice in Schools project. Hannah is a trainer with Border Crossers, CARLE and The Human Root. She is also associate director of the nonprofit Open MIC, where she works with investors to increase corporate accountability in the media and tech sectors, focusing on issues of digital surveillance, data privacy, and the spread of hate speech and disinformation online. As a white person, Hannah is working to uncover, talk about, and confront the impact of her whiteness. So far, it’s been a nonlinear process, and she’s learning to embrace and enjoy messiness.
